The skin itself is kept cold during the treatment by the continuous cooling, but in the hours afterwards it is still busy recovering. Anything that adds heat in those hours lengthens that process.

No sauna and no scalding shower

A lukewarm shower is perfectly fine. What is worth putting off for a couple of days is concentrated heat: sauna, jacuzzi, hammam and a genuinely scalding shower. We have a private shower at the clinic and you can freshen up right after the treatment — just not in boiling water.

No sweaty workout

Sweat on skin that is still recovering irritates it, and friction from tight sportswear adds more. Walking, work and an ordinary day — no problem. The gym or a long run — tomorrow.

What you can put on

If the skin feels hot or dry, aloe vera gel or a moisturiser free of fragrance and alcohol will do the job. What is worth leaving in the cupboard for two days: acids, retinol, alcohol-based products and perfumed deodorants under the arms.

The next two weeks

Sun — the most important rule

The melanin in the skin is exactly what the laser works against. Skin exposed to the sun right after a treatment is more prone to pigmentation, and skin that tans between treatments changes the intensity we can work with next time. Direct sun on the area is better postponed, and when you do go out — SPF 30+ on the treated area.

In general we put it this way: tanned is not a problem, burnt is. What actually decides is what we see through the dermatoscope before the next treatment, not the calendar.

No wax and no tweezers — shaving is fine

This is the point most people miss. Wax, tweezers and thread pull the hair out from the root — and with no root there is nothing for the laser to meet at the next treatment. Shaving is perfectly fine, because it shortens the hair and leaves the root in place.

Shedding — and why not to help it along

About one to three weeks after the treatment you will see hairs shedding. It looks like growth but it is exactly the shedding. Do not pull and do not pick — go over it with a soft cloth or shave, and the rest will fall on its own.

What is normal — and when to pick up the phone

Mild redness and a feeling of heat in the area, and sometimes small spots around the hair follicles — these are expected reactions, and for most people they fade within the same day.

What does justify a call to us: blisters, a burn, redness that worsens instead of fading after 48 hours, or pain that does not pass. There is no need to deliberate — pick up the phone, 050-723-7230, and we will tell you what to do. We are at the clinic in Florentin Sun–Thu 09:00–22:00 and Friday until 15:00.

Why these rules are so short

On our device, the Advance Titanium SHR 4 ICE, the energy is delivered in short low-intensity pulses instead of one strong pulse, and the cooling head keeps the surface of the skin cold continuously throughout the pass. The skin absorbs far less load, and so the list of restrictions afterwards is short. How it works in practice.

Stinging, redness and spots — what to do

This is the question most people ask in the hours afterwards, and in most cases the answer is reassuring.

Mild stinging and redness

The skin absorbed energy and is recovering. A sensation similar to mild sunburn, with redness and local heat, is an expected reaction. What helps: cold. A clean towel with cold water for a few minutes, or aloe vera gel that has been in the fridge. Not ice, and not directly on the skin.

Small spots around the hairs

They look like tiny red dots around each follicle. This is the follicle’s own reaction to heat, and it usually fades within a day. Do not scratch and do not cover with a plaster.

Itching

Common in the first two days and connected to dryness. A moisturiser free of fragrance and alcohol solves most of it. The main thing is not to scratch — scratching skin that is recovering is what creates spots.

Dark patches

Pigmentation almost always comes from a combination of two things: skin that has had a treatment and sun exposure right afterwards. That is why the sun rule is the most important one on this list.

When to pick up the phone

Blisters, an actual burn, redness that worsens instead of fading after 48 hours, or pain that does not pass. 050-723-7230 — better that you call and we tell you it is fine, than that you wait.

When you can go back to the sea, the pool and the sun

Sea and pool: wait 24–48 hours. Salt and chlorine on skin that is still sensitive irritate it, and the sun above adds the genuinely risky part.

Tanning: this is the rule worth the most — not only for the skin but for the next treatment. Skin that has tanned between treatments changes the intensity we can work with. We put it this way: tanned is not a problem, burnt is — and what actually decides is what we see through the dermatoscope at the next assessment. On the treated area — SPF 30+ when you go out.

Showers, creams and deodorant

Shower: straight away, in lukewarm water. The restriction is on the temperature, not on the water. We have a private shower at the clinic for clients to use.

Body cream: allowed and even desirable, as long as it is free of fragrance and alcohol. What does wait two days: acids, retinol and exfoliating products.

Deodorant: within the same 24-hour window, and preferably alcohol-free and fragrance-free the first time.

How long recovery takes — and why hair comes back

There is no downtime. You go back to normal immediately — work, studies, walking. What is postponed for two days is concentrated heat and sweat.

About one to three weeks after the treatment you will see hairs shedding. And then comes the common question: why is hair still growing? Because the laser only affects hairs in the active growth phase, and at any given moment that is only some of them. The rest come up between treatments — and that is exactly why it takes a series of about 12 treatments and not one.

Better in the morning or the evening?

For the treatment itself there is no difference. Practically, evening is more convenient: you leave here and go home instead of spending a whole day in the sun, and the skin gets a full night to recover. We are open Sun–Thu until 22:00 for exactly that reason.

Questions that keep coming up

When can I shower?

Straight away. We have a private shower at the clinic for clients to use. The restriction is on the temperature, not on the water.

Can I wear make-up or put on deodorant?

Make-up — better to wait 24 hours if a facial area was treated. Deodorant under the arms — within the same 24-hour window, and preferably alcohol-free and fragrance-free.

How long until the next treatment?

The gap is set by the area and by your own growth rate, and we decide it together at the end of each treatment. A full series is about 12 treatments in three stages. Work out the series for your areas.

I slipped up and waxed — what now?

Not a disaster. The hairs need to grow back from the root before the next treatment. Tell us in advance and we will rearrange the date instead of wasting a treatment on you.

What do you do before the next treatment?

Shave the area — with a trimmer any time from right away up to a few hours before, with a razor about 24 hours in advance so the hair has time to come out — arrive with no creams and no make-up on the area, and with no fresh tan.
