How much does it really hurt? Here, it doesn’t

Suitability

Dark skin, tanned skin and light hair

Yes — on dark skin too. That is exactly what the 1064 nm wavelength is for, together with the continuous cooling. But it needs saying precisely: what decides is the contrast between hair colour and skin colour — not skin tone on its own.

The Fitzpatrick scale (1988) — the accepted tool for describing skin tone. The dermoscope reads it and calibrates accordingly.
Contrast is what decides
Dark hair on dark skin works — thanks to 1064 nm and the cooling. White hair does not respond, and light hair depends on the contrast. That is the truth, even when it is less convenient.
Tanned versus burnt
“Tanned is not a problem. Burnt is.” As a guide: about 3–4 days after sun exposure, and after a burn once the peeling has passed. The dermoscope at the diagnosis is what decides.
Who we don’t treat
Treatment is from age 18 only — younger than that, hair is still affected by hormonal changes. No treatment during pregnancy or breastfeeding; a series started earlier can be continued.
